About Hoian Cooking Classes
Our family-run cooking course offers visitors from Australia, New Zealand, and the UK a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture while supporting a Hoi An household.
Our History
My name is Liên (Lily). I am one of six children in my family. I live in a large household, and although life is difficult, I am very lucky to have my mother and my older sister teaching me how to cook traditional Vietnamese dishes. My family is not wealthy, so I started cooking when I was 10 years old, and my love for cooking began from there. In 2018, I married my husband, Quân, who is a talented chef. We came together because of the meals he cooked for me every day. We opened a restaurant and a cooking class at home. I have always loved cooking. As a family, we always prepared food for our family and friends. My sister started a restaurant when I was young, and I enjoyed talking to people from all over the world. It was always my dream to start a business to teach visitors to Hoi An how to cook in the Vietnamese way. We started Cam Thanh tours in 2018, and the cooking classes became our guests' favourite experience.

Our Community
I was raised in Cam Thanh fishing village outside Hoi An before I met my husband Quan and moved to Hoi An with my family.
Our heart is in Cam Thanh, and we support eco-tourism for the local community. Each tour you take with us helps local farmers, fisherman and their families.
Our restaurant is next to the Thu Bồn River in Cẩm Thanh, and the beauty of the mangrove trees along the riverbank makes it a peaceful and ideal place to learn Vietnamese cuisine taught by Quân and me.

Our Dishes
The four dishes we specialise in for your cooking experience are:
- Chả Giò: This is the most special dish of our restaurant, and we use the best type of rice paper to give our guests an unforgettable experience.
- Bánh Xèo: A dish that our village traditionally enjoys during family gatherings, symbolising happiness and togetherness.
- Gỏi Đu Đủ: A refreshing dish made from the fresh flavours of papaya and carrots, perfect for cooling down in the heat.
- Phở Bò: This dish can be found worldwide, but at our restaurant, it has a distinct and rich flavour. I’m sure it will be 99% perfect.
We look forward to having you as our guests.
